Glasses are prescribed to correct refractive errors and improve vision. In Children, Glasses improve vision and help to treat amblyopia (Lazy Eye).
Types of Refractive Errors:
- Myopia (Nearsightedness)- Myopic Patients have good near vision without glasses as compared to distant vision. Light rays entering the eye focus in front of the retina.
- Hyperopia (Far sightedness) – Hyperopic patients have better distance vision without glasses as compared to near vision. Light rays entering the eye focus behind the retina.
- Presbyopia – The eyes gradually lose the ability to see nearby things clearly with advancing age. It is a normal part of aging and starts at around 40 years of age.
